Personality: Thalia is a very sarcastic person and takes after her muse - Thalia, the Muse of comedy - by cracking jokes whenever she can. Some may say she's rude and just a mean person in general, but that's because Thalia doesn't like to show herself to many people. The Ravenclaw house sees the crazy, bubbly person that she truly is because she feels she can trust them. She was never good with trust but is trying to be better around people in general.
Basic Background: Thalia is the daughter of a Muggle and a man who they don't even know the name of. Her mother, who studied Greek mythology in college, named her after two Muses - the Muse of comedy and the Muse of music - so that, no matter what, Thalia can have laughter and music where ever she goes.
Thalia was raised in France, which is why she has a bit of a French accent when she's angry and slips in some French words when she's stressed. By the time she was nine, her mother moved them to London because her grandmother was getting old and ill. The two took care of her until the Hogwarts acceptance letter came. It wasn't really a shock, since strange things always happened around Thalia, but they were surprised still.
She then dropped out of her Muggle schooling and went to Hogwarts, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Also not much of a shock since all she ever seems to do is read or mess around with electronics (she loves to take them apart and see what makes them tick). Her love of music got her to join the schools choir and band, which is how she makes most of her friends.
Facts:
- She was raised like a Muggle and sometimes it is hard to fit in with the Hogwarts crowd. Especially when she wants to talk about Muggle books or Muggle video games. Not many seem to understand.
- Her favorite place to be in all of Hogwarts is the library; the smell of all the old books reminds her of home and her childhood. Plus, she loves watching the boys walking to Quidditch practice every day.
- Quidditch is the only sport she understands and she wanted nothing more than to try-out for the Ravenclaw team, but her 2nd year a number of mean students told her she wouldn't make it no matter what. She didn't want to embarrass herself so she didn't even try, though she does love to get on her broom and fly around the field anyways.
- Even if she can't use any Muggle things at Hogwarts, she always packs her cell phone and video games. It makes her feel more connected to the Muggle world.
Audition:
Thalia was so excited to get back to Hogwarts. Although she did enjoy spending the summer with her mom and grandmother, it wasn't the same. She wasn't allowed to use magic - mainly because she was underage, but also because her made her mom jumpy - which meant she couldn't practice anything. No doubt the other kids would be showing off the spells they now use and laugh at her that she couldn't. It was okay though. She had spent the entire summer working on her sarcasm and making herself tougher. She refuse to let the other students get under her skin this year.
"Sweetie, I'm really going to miss you. Promise you'll write every day?" Thalia sighed as she zipped up her duffle and slipped her wand in between her leg and boot. Ever since she was 11, she had written to her mother every single week even though she hated it. "Yes momma," she mumbled as she threw the duffle over her shoulder. Most of her stuff was already downstairs waiting to go, but the duffle held the things most important to her; her books and video games. Those were always the last to get packed away.
On her way out of her bedroom door she picked up the owl cage, though there was no owl in it. Sherlock, her grey owl that looked to be more silver than anything, liked to fly around the house instead of sit in his cage like her mother would have liked. Thalia once told her mother that if she tried to lock him in the cage, then her mother would never get letters because Sherlock would refuse to deliver them. That had shut her up very quickly. Thalia laughed quietly in the almost dark hallway. Her mom loved using candles all over the house so everything had an eerie light to it. It didn't help that the only sound you could hear was Sherlock's hooting.
She took the steps down to the doorway slowly, not wanting to leave her faithful home but still dying to get away. She gave a soft whistle, "Sherlock in your cage." The owl came speeding around the corner and settled himself inside, probably excited to go back to Hogwarts almost more than she was. "You got everything?" It was her mothers voice from the doorway that pulled her out of her thoughts. She gave a short nod and picked up all she could carry; Sherlock's cage, her duffle, her broom, and a second duffle.
It appeared that her mom had already put the suitcase in the car, which meant there was nothing keeping them there. The two slid into the car and Thalia drove off to King's Cross station. She had gotten her drivings permit earlier in the summer and had been practicing the entire time. By the time they got there, other young wizards and witches were already moving in so they could get to the Hogwarts Express. Thalia's mother brought a cart over and helped Thalia load everything, though she moved to the drivers seat as Thalia moved towards the building. Neither of them were good at good-byes and would probably hug each other until the train left, almost as if they forgot about the time of departure. Thalia waved to her mother and pushed her way through the crowd.
She followed a family - the Weasley's and Potter's if her memory served her right - onto Platform 9 3/4. She continued following them until they came across a car that wasn't quite full. Trying to look like she need no help, Thalia grabbed all of her stuff and began loading it. She found an area that was completely empty and, although she knew it would remain like that, took a spot for herself. She kicked her feet onto the seat and leaned back against the window as she took her wand out of her boot. She began flicking her wrist, hoping she could simply practice on the ride there. Just another year at Hogwarts, she thought to herself.
